Key races to follow:

Florida: there are two special elections in Florida to fill seats vacated by former Rep. Matt Gaetz and current National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Trump won these seats by over 30 points in 2024, but recent polling has Democrats hoping for major upsets.

Wisconsin: the Badger state is garnering national attention due to the high-profile race for control of the state supreme court, expected to be the most expensive court election in U.S. history. The nominally nonpartisan race will decide control of the state supreme court, and has drawn influences from top leaders in both parties. Across the state there are also 1,200 other seats up for election including city legislatures and mayors, township councils and board heads, local school board members, and a statewide Superintendent of Schools.

Illinois: Illinois has almost 12,000 seats across the state up for election, including the mayors of college towns like Evanston and Bloomington. In Aurora, Illinois’ second-largest city, there have been complaints over signs, campaign tactics, and pay-to-play politics.

Oklahoma: the Sooner state is holding primary elections in three state legislative districts, in addition to voting for county commissioners, city mayors, school board officials, and more. Stillwater, OK, a town of 50,000 is voting on a property tax increase of on average $60 / year to fund a new animal shelter.
