First-Past-the-Post is the most widely-used voting system in the United States, and one you have most likely used if you’ve voted before. Here’s how it works:
Every voter casts a vote for one candidate in each race
After the votes are counted, the candidate with the most votes wins
Candidates don’t need support from a majority of voters, only from more voters than their opponents
